The No. 705 Bead Former is used to roll form a bead into a round distribution transformer tank which provides a form to seal and hold the tank cover in place. The operator rolls the tank into the machine and then initiates the cycle start. The tail stock pushes the tank into the forming area and the forming cycle starts with the lower forming roll raising the tank against the driven inside roll. The length of form time is controlled by a timer. At the end of the time delay the lower roll retracts, the tail stock retracts and a stripper plate pushes the formed tank out of the forming area. As an option the machine can be equipped with a kick out device for automatically ejecting the tank onto exit rails. Change over for diameter is done by adjusting the positions of the four outboard support rolls. The length adjustment is made by loosening gibs on the tail stock frame and repositioning by use of an electric motor.
